Single Cup Coffee Makers

Updated on August 16, 2013

Single serve coffee makers - a great way to always get a fresh, hot cup of java

I bought a very expensive single cup coffee maker 5 years ago now. It replaced my Keurig single serve coffee maker, which I still have and use periodically when my other coffee brewer is in the shop for maintenance. Yes, my single cup coffee maker gets maintained - in fact, it's pretty much on the same scheduled as my car! Regardless, my coffee maker brought my Mom and me many happy moments. You see, my Mom was a coffee lover from the word go - I'd wake her with a fresh cup every morning that she lived with me (and there were 5 years of great mornings). We'd sit down in the afternoon and brew another cup each and chat. A good coffee maker can really be important!

When these single serve coffee makers hit the market, I knew I was IN as I rarely drink more than 1 or 2 cups in the morning - a full pot brewed was pretty much a full pot wasted. I was on my way to becoming quite the barista.

So, come along and see what I've found for the best single serve coffee makers on the market. Go ahead, grab a cup of joe and sit a spell.

Note: that picture above is of my own Saeco single cup coffee maker. The mug was my darling mother's. I think of her every morning when I'm sipping my own coffee from her coffee mug.

Inexpensive Keurig single cup coffee makers

At the time of printing, the most expensive of the Keurig single cup coffee makers below was right around $100. These are all decent, basic coffee makers that would be a great Christmas present for a coffee lover.

Bone china coffee cups

My Mom taught me to fully appreciate a cup of the coffee in the prettiest cups - those made of bone china. Bone china is light and very breakable so get a few. I still have my Mom's cups and think of her every morning when I make a cup of coffee with my Saeco coffee maker.

Saeco single cup coffee makers

Much more expensive but way worth it

I'm on my second Saeco coffee maker; I took my first one in for scheduled maintenance and saw this shiny new Saeco single cup coffee maker. I had to have it! I've been firmly in love ever since. It makes the best cappuccino or expresso or just a regular cup of coffee.

The Saeco single cup coffee maker I have my eye on...

This single cup coffee maker is really really really expensive, but it is on my wish list. It does everything but put the cup on a tray and bring it to you in bed.

My favorite feature is the 'fingerprint technology' - with a swipe of your finger, the machine will serve up a cup of java to your personal preference. 6 people can have profiles. Is that too cool or what???

You won't have the best cup of coffee without the best beans

I'm a fan of fresh roasted beans, preferably from Brazil. I've learned that what you put into your coffee maker directly impacts what comes out - that's why I use good beans and distilled water. Here's some good coffee beans on Amazon.com.

Need dessert to go with that cup of coffee?
